Jennifer & Ryan’s Sunday wedding rounded out my triple header wedding weekend ( remember Mikalea & Bob and Sharla & Will?) with a beautiful early afternoon ceremony and reception in the Harvest Room at the Hotel MacDonald in Edmonton. We met up with Jennifer earlier in the day at Ryan’s parents’ place where she was getting ready. I fell in love with her pretty tea-length wedding dress the moment I saw it. I also loved the sentiment behind the pocketwatch on her bouquet that belonged to her Dad. After getting ready, Jennifer & Ryan did a first look before we headed out to do portrait with their motorcycle and then to Hotel MacDonald for more portraits and family photos before the ceremony.
The ceremony was perfect and I loved how emotional Ryan looked throughout. You’ll also notice Jennifer clutching a tissue in a few shots… and it was well needed! After the ceremony there was a reception in the same room and it was just beautifully put together by fabulous Edmonton wedding planner Kristina McAnally from Special Event Rentals with beautiful flowers from the Wild Orchid Flower Shop featuring a cool colour palette of red and aqua. It was a great day! Congratulations Jennifer & Ryan!

This past summer we were inspired by a shallow lake in Jasper National Park and decided to make it the location for an edgy wedding shoot featuring an awesome black wedding dress and amazing floral jewellery. Edmonton wedding planner Julia Pringle from Once Upon Your Day put together a spectacular tablescape in the middle of the shallow lake with beautiful chairs, plates and linens from Special Event Rentals combined with stunning florals from faBLOOMosity to make this one of my favourite stylized shoots I’d done to date. You just can’t go wring with the stunning natural beauty in Jasper National Park and with the romantic table for two set in the middle of the lake, we sure garnered a lot attention from park visitors travelling by. This shoot wouldn’t have been complete without the amazing florals… let me gush about them for a moment! The floral jewellery was spectacular and so intricate… amazing! I loved the living ring! The centrepiece and the bouquet were just fabulous too. Krystal and Mike made great models and didn’t mind getting soaked and rolling around in the semi-chilly lake to get some great photos. Krystal’s hair and make-up by Erin Regis was beautiful and didn’t budget, even with all that splashing and rolling around in the water! So here’s some of my favourites from this awesome shoot! I can’t wait to go back to Jasper to photograph more weddings and portraits too, so if you’d like to photographed in Jasper, get in touch!

So, we’re going back to the past summer for this shoot that I did for the Ramada Kingsway in Edmonton for their ad in Weddings in Alberta. I’d never been in the Ramada in Edmonton and I was surprised at how big the ballroom was and how pretty it could be decorated. I really loved the aqua, grey and yellow theme with the white accents with linens and the centrepiece from Special Event Rentals. We called in Edmonton Wedding Planner Julianne Cragg of A Modern Proposal Event Planning to help complete the tables with some favours and table numbers she had on hand that went perfect with the colour scheme. There were lots of pretty wedding details to photograph… and then came the food!!
The food looked GOOD but it TASTED even better! Of course we got to sample everything after it was photographed and it was delicious. The Ramada can handle large weddings (up to 700 people i Think) in their spacious ballroom and it can also do smaller weddings as well and makes for a great wedding venue not far out of downtown Edmonton.

As an Edmonton wedding photographer, I get to see lots of great decor ideas at all of the weddings I photograph and it’s fun to help show off lots of new ides for wedding decor inspiration. I was pretty excited to shoot this gorgeous tablescape and sweet table design by Edmonton wedding planner Juli Cragg of A Modern Proposal Event Planning. The colour scheme is just WOW! with bold yellow, pretty aqua and modern grey. I love the paper-flower inspiration for the cake, cupcakes and backdrop. The overall design is fun and whimsical with the stripes mixed in.
The Crystal Gallery at the Delta South Hotel in Edmonton is a beautiful modern venue and I love the unique chandeliers in the room. It made for the perfect backdrop to the table setting which featured clear acrylic Chivari chairs, chargers and pretty satin linens from Special Event Rentals (swoon), gorgeous flowers from Akkiko Floral Artistry, awesome stationary by PinkPolka Design and a beautiful table runner and backdrop from A Chair to Remember.
And let’s not forget the amazing sweet table featuring a gorgeous cake, cupcakes, cake pops, macarons and sugar cookies by Bluebird Cakes! And the best thing to compliment the sweets? The signature Blue Lagoon and Hard Lemonade cocktails that matched the design perfectly.

Deanne and Steve’s wedding was my last official wedding of the season in September and it was spectacular! I’ve always been a sucker for guys in kilts, and boy was I not disappointed! 
Deanne was also pretty darned amazing in a gorgeous Pronovias dress (and it had straps! I hope dresses with straps are the next big thing for wedding wear) and she was sporting half an ocean worth of pearls – so very glamourous! Went so very well with the gorgeous bouquet from Marlow & Richards.
We left the Hotel MacDonald to begin the processional, complete with a rockin’ bagpiper, to parade through downtown to the Citadel Theatre for the wedding ceremony. I was joined by the very awesome Ryan Kelly from Ryan + Beth Photographers to help me document this fabulous day (Thanks Ryan, you rule!!). After the ceremony, we shot photos with the family near the waterfall downstairs at the theatre before heading off to Churchill Square and to my favourite spot near 95 St to shoot photos with the wedding party before returning back to the hotel to just shoot Steve and Deanne together. After the photos were done, we wandered in to the gorgeously decorated reception at the Empire Ballroom (overseen by Juli of A Modern Proposal and linens from Special Event Rentals) and enjoyed a magnificent 5 course meal and an entertaining round of speeches before the party got started for the night. My favourite part of the night was Steve’s twist on the removal of the garter… he was wearing it while Deanne got to take it off him! I love a good twist on a tradition!
It was a rocking good time and I’m so happy we got to be there to capture it all! Congratulations Steve and Deanne!
