May is a magical time of year in Edmonton. I get excited for a few different reasons. I was a May bride, so, of course, I get excited because it’s the month of my wedding anniversary, but I also get excited because for a few weeks, we get to enjoy the gorgeous pink cherry blossoms! The cherry blossoms were the perfect backdrop for Jack and Wendy’s engagement session! I can’t wait for their wedding in November!
Whew… it’s been a while since I’ve blogged, it’s been such a busy wedding season! Amanda & Jon were the lucky winners of my A Love Story grand prize giveaway last fall and they won a wedding photography package. Their wedding was at the end of May, the perfect time of year to get married. The ceremony was at Millwoods Presbyterian and we did family and wedding party photos at Jackie Parker Park (where I managed to find a cherry tree that still had blossoms) followed by the reception at the Greenwood Inn.

I met Amanda & Jonathan at the A Love Story Bridal expo back in September where they won a Zoolander-isnpired walk-off to win my wedding photography grand prize. Quickly the months passed by and before you know it, it was the end of May! This particular May days was a bright and sunny one, although crazy windy! We tucked away into the late blooming cherry blossoms to stay out of the sun and avoid the wind and happened upon a little bit of magic. I also become very good friends with the nearby trees as I got tangled in them to just get the right angle for this one. Here’s just a little taste… more to come later!
I have been waiting and waiting and waiting some more for the cherry trees to finally blossom in Edmonton this spring. I found myself driving around, trying to spot an area with a few pretty pink blossoms and it took forever for that to happen this year. A watched tree never blooms perhaps?When I finally spotted some trees in bloom, I knew that’s where I had to meet Ashley & Kevin for their engagement session. Their wedding is coming up super fast, but I am oh so excited for it. I loved the photos we took in the tiny cherry grove. Ashley and Kevin are so sweet together so I just know their wedding photos are going to be fabulous. Here are a few of my favourites from the day where we luckily avoided the rain. While most of the images are from the cherry trees, we didn’t stay there the whole time!
