ENV Photography – Edmonton wedding photographer

So this one is a bit of a personal post, but not too personal! My hunny got the great idea for us to Spend New Year’s Eve in Calgary just so we could have an excuse to get out of Edmonton. Being the princess that I am, I had no intention of sleeping on someone’s couch, so I promptly booked us a room at the Marriott downtown Calgary. The drive there was a bit on the long side… 4.5 hours from Edmonton to Calgary… can you say crappy roads? Was snowy and icy and bloody cold out! We finally made it, checked in and went for a swim with three unsupervised obnoxious boys. The swim did not last long (see the three obnoxious children above – blowing your nose into the pool is NOT ok!!).

I don’t think I will fill in the details of the visit to the rooms of our friends here and what trouble was going on there – i’m still surpised they didn’t get kicked out in the middle of the night.

So, the big event of the night was going to the Distillery to see the Dwarves. The even bigger event of the night was the Masked Naked Man….no, i won’t be posting that video here… but here’s a few shots of The Dwarves!

The last while has been busy, but we finally got some time to relax on Christmas Day. We had family over for Christmas dinner (and I made a pretty darn yummy turkey, if I do say so myself!). Through out the day I was trying my darnedest to take photos of all four darling kitties sitting together… no such luck! Sunny and Klaus, of course, were willing to snuggle together and cute it up for the camera! I eventually caught Olaf when he was feeling sleepy and he decided to comply. Princess Violet, on the other hand, wanted none of it! Refused to look at me, but she’s cute anyway! My niece Bella took a page out of the Violet book and did her best not to look at me either, but I got a couple to send off to the grandparents anyway! Looking forward to photographing Candy Cane Lane this week… at least I know the houses will look at me when I tell them to! Happy Holidays!

I’ve actually been taking a little break for the past while to get caught up, so I haven’t touched my cameras in over a month! I went out Friday night, and after a change of plans, I thought it would be fun to shoot some Christmas lights and a few nighttime cityscapes. Well, with it being as cold as it was… I chickened out and didn’t last long. In fact, I didn’t even get out of the Jeep when I took a quick shot of City Hall before heading home to snuggle up in the blankets. I think I will wait until it warms up again (please, oh please warm up soon!) before I venture out to try again.

I have started a fun new project that will be quite helpful for all those Edmonton brides and grooms out there! I am currently working on Edmonton Wedding Photographers – A Directory and it will build an extensive list of wedding photographers in the Edmonton area, will feature Edmonton weddings, will feauture local photographers and will be a visual database of lots of great ceremony and receptions venues in the area! There will also be a section showing locations used for engagement sessions and formals to help you get more creative!

So, tell your friends to check it out, tell your photographer to get listed, and go take a look at some awesome weddings and engagement sessions in your city, Edmontonians!

Edmonton Wedding Photographers – A Directory

This has been a good week for seeing ENV weddings posted on other wedding blogs. Check them out!

Erin and Tyler’s September wedding on Home Made Bride showing off the cool vintage feel to the wedding.

Chris and Lexie’s chilly October wedding on Wedding Obsession with them dancing the night away! (there’s 2 parts to their post!)

Shane and Colinne’s Halloween wedding on Rock ‘N Roll Bride with the spooky details and their awesome Corpse Bride vows.

I love Rock ‘N Roll Bride!

November 4th, 2009

Ok, I really love this blog! If you haven’t had a chance to check it out, go right now to Rock ‘N Roll Bride! Go, look at all the wedding awesomeness, find great new ideas… and then come back here and have me photograph your Rock ‘N Roll wedding! This site has hours of inspiration. Vintage styles, quirky details and tattooed couples… *le sigh*

Lots of awesome ways to sneak in subcultural details into your wedding and still keep the parents happy. Derek and I had a pretty traditional wedding, but we managed to sneak a few details like a certain Bad Manners song during our slideshow (does anyone want to guess which one??), Derek sporting Ben Sherman and Grinders with his black suit and skinny black tie, and my lovely leopard print creeper sneakers poking out from under the dress.

Anyway, I’m on way back to look at more awesome pictures! Stop reading here and go look too!

Last night I was at Fort Edmonton Park for Colinne and Shane’s Halloween themed wedding. Colinne had a beautiful dress and awesome white leather chucks. I, of course, was totally in love with her ring – how could I possibly resist a black diamond?? The flowers were beautiful and she was carrying a horseshoe with Blackwatch Tartan (Shane’s family was actually a part of the Blackwatch) and she was pinned with an antique rabbit’s foor that has been in her family fors years to act as her something old.

The ceremony was in the foyer at the Hotel Selkirk and the hotel was spookily adorned for the day. The guests were in full Halloween costume and their vows were from the Corpse Bride! I wanted to use the Corpse Bride vows for me own wedding, but it never worked out, so I am still a little bit jealous!

We wandered about the grounds for the family and formal shots before coming back to the hotel to set up the photobooth for the evening and to enjoy the reception. The centrepieces on each table were different while each incorporated a pumpkin, and the wine, it was Vampire (merlot, of course!). There was a ghost walk later in the evening and a costume contest too! There were lots of fabulous costumes, and you will get to see them all once the photobooth images are done, but in the meantime, enjoy…! I did get a little experimental with the antique finishing for some of the photos, but it just seems to work so well…

Boudoir marathon in Calgary

October 25th, 2009

I just got home from a mini boudoir marathon that I had over the weekend in Calgary. What I great time I had! The ladies were all fantastic! While I’m not able to show all of the sessions, do take a peek at the La Coquette blog to see a few samples in the next few days! Thanks to all the gorgeous ladies who came out for the sessions over the weekend!
