This was pretty exciting news on Christmas Eve. I got the e-mail from the WPJA (Wedding Photo Journalist Association) about the Q3 contest results and was super excited to see one of my Ring Shots placed in the Top 20 for the Ring Details category! The WPJA has tons of talented photographers, so I’m pretty happy. Next goal is to break the Top 10! I think we’ll do it in 2012!

I was kinda having a bad day today. I’ve been tired and headachy since the weekend and I don’t seem to have enough hours in the day to get all the work I need to do done… Yes, I admit, I am being a little whiny about it 
This, however, totally made my day. Two of my ring shots placed in the top 20 for the Q2 AGWPJA contest for ring details. I’m pretty stoked! It’s an international contest with thousands of fabulous photographers. I’m feeling pretty darn happy now!
This one placed 10th. That darn ant drove me crazy trying to photograph the rings. It would crawl up and over and hide away and poke back out, so I decided to make it the focus… so I would like to thank the pesky ant for helping me win… I’m not grumbling so much about it anymore!
This one placed 18th. I just loved this shot for the colour and the composition. I guess the judges liked it for the same reasons too!

Two weeks ago I photographed a beautiful wedding at the Hotel MacDonald in Edmonton with a fabulous couple. The couple requested to not have identifying images of them shown, so I’m just going to show a few details and a couple shots where you can’t tell who they are! I hae to say though, this bride had my favourite wedding shoes to date! Check out the sassy Badgely Mischka shoes! I know I could never wear them, but I still covet them! Anyway, here are few shots from the day!
Yesterday I met up with Jaime and Bruce near the studio in downtown Edmonton for a mini engagement session outside in the snow. Their wedding is coming up in less than two weeks and I am very excited! I couldn’t resist nabbing Jaime’s engagement ring while we all warmed up with some hot chocolate in the studio to grab a few shots. Here’s a few of my favourites from the session!
Deanne and Steve’s wedding was my last official wedding of the season in September and it was spectacular! I’ve always been a sucker for guys in kilts, and boy was I not disappointed! Deanne was also pretty darned amazing in a gorgeous Pronovias dress (and it had straps! I hope dresses with straps are the next big thing for wedding wear) and she was sporting half an ocean worth of pearls – so very glamourous! Went so very well with the gorgeous bouquet from Marlow & Richards.
We left the Hotel MacDonald to begin the processional, complete with a rockin’ bagpiper, to parade through downtown to the Citadel Theatre for the wedding ceremony. I was joined by the very awesome Ryan Kelly from Ryan + Beth Photographers to help me document this fabulous day (Thanks Ryan, you rule!!). After the ceremony, we shot photos with the family near the waterfall downstairs at the theatre before heading off to Churchill Square and to my favourite spot near 95 St to shoot photos with the wedding party before returning back to the hotel to just shoot Steve and Deanne together. After the photos were done, we wandered in to the gorgeously decorated reception at the Empire Ballroom (overseen by Juli of A Modern Proposal and linens from Special Event Rentals) and enjoyed a magnificent 5 course meal and an entertaining round of speeches before the party got started for the night. My favourite part of the night was Steve’s twist on the removal of the garter… he was wearing it while Deanne got to take it off him! I love a good twist on a tradition!
It was a rocking good time and I’m so happy we got to be there to capture it all! Congratulations Steve and Deanne!
