Friday marked the beginning of construction on the studio space. The studio is downtown at 10132 105 St in the basement of the building. The building is pretty darn cool since it was built in the 1930′s, so it does have some character, and the surrounding alleys are some of my favourite in the city.
The partial wall separating my deskspace and the viewing area was built. The ugly carpet was torn up and was supposed to reveal nice smooth concrete… no such luck! My initial plan was to paint out the concrete floors to a nice plain white… and it wasn’t going to cost me much money at all. The floor, however, had other ideas, and now $3000 later, there will be pretty dark wood floors with nice cork underlay to keep my legs happy while shooting, and it will keep your legs happy too while you let me take your photos in the studio.
Friday also had Josh & Sanser came in to do all the wiring. Pretty crazy undertaking I think, but he’s so awesome that I now have total control over my wiring and with the ability to upgrade when needed if the new strobes are too powerful and it’s all self-contained now too.
Here’s a few shots of how things were looking on Friday night!
