Headshots with Amy of Island in the Mist Photography

Saturday, February 20th, 2010

Today I headed out with Amy of Island in the Mist Photography to do some new headshots for her website. Amy is a wedding and portrait photographer who works mainly in Alberta and Newfoundland, and has a far better knack for photographing babies than I ever could. Amy and I go waaaaaay back to my troublesome high school years, and I was more than happy to show the world just how adorable she is! I think it is difficult for photographers to be on the other side of the lens, especially myself, but Amy did a great job posing away, even with her poor, cold, sockless feet (all in the name of fashion) when I made her climb in the snow.

Photo shoot with Edmonton Wedding Planner Monica Hill of Aisle Plan Your Day

Saturday, February 6th, 2010

Yesterday afternoon I met up with Monica on the chilly streets of Edmonton outside of La Piazza Dasee near Whyte Ave. to take some photos for her newly revamped website. Monica is a WPIC certified wedding and event planner, check out her site if you are in the market for an awesome wedding planner. We’d been chatting over e-mail for the past few weeks prior to the shoot, but yesterday was the first day we met and I liked her right away! She was so much fun and very easy going, not to mention gosh darned adorable as you can see from her photos! We spent a little time outside catching the last remaining rays of the day before ducking into La Piazza Dasee to warm up. They have an awesome cafe area that I didn’t know about, and I just may deviate from Starbucks every so often to go back there!

Here’s a few of images Monica and be sure to go check out her website at www.aisleplanyourday.com!

Weekend photography adventure in Saskatchewan!

Thursday, February 4th, 2010

Friday afternoon found me on the road, headed East, for my first foray into Saskatchewan for the weekend. My destination was Humboldt, SK for the No Limits: North workshop that was being hosted there. The drive was an interesting one, in that the roads were so straight and flat that I found myself easily going 160 kmph while singing along to to The Crack at the top of my lungs since I had no one to talk to.

I arrived in Humboldt Friday night, somewhere around 7:30 and totally forgot about the time difference, so it was actually an hour later, and I cruised around town, but couldn’t find much going on so just went to the Inn and crashed. I must admit, I’m not fond of sleeping places without my Derek and the 4 furballs, so didn’t sleep so well. Saturday morning came too early and I was up at my equivalent of 6 am to head to Imagin Photography (the Studio where everything was taking place) for 8 am (well, they called it 9, but not in my head) where I was joined by 15 others to learn from Mike Long and Andy Armstrong about pin-ups, fashion, glamour and boudoir photography. We each got to shoot a little with a model each day and learned about light, posing and post-processing.

At the end of the two days, I headed off to Saskatoon to spend the night before arriving home today after a very snowy drive. Here’s a few shots of one of the lovely models, I will show some of the pin-up stuff once I’ve finished working on it.
