Choosing a photographer for your big day is a very difficult decision.
In addition to your budget, you also need to consider the style of photographs that appeal to you most. Do you like posed, traditional, candid, photojournalistic, etc.? The style of processing that each photographer is unique, so be sure that you like the finish that is applied to the images. Do you like crisp black and white images? Do you like super saturated colours? Do you like faded antique images? If you love bold colour, someone who processes with a pale undersaturated palatte may not be the photographer for you.
Just as important as photographic style, it is absolutely necessary for you to “click” with your photographer. Personality plays an important role in the flow of the wedding day. If you find your photographer annoying when you are just starting to get ready, just imagine how violent you will feel toward them after being on your feet (in gorgeous shoes, of course) for 12 hours! Meeting your photographer in person (when possible) is a good way to make sure you are compatible with each other. When you are comfortable with your photographer, and your photographer is comfortable with you, it shows! An engagement session also helps you get to know your photographer better, and it allows your photographer to see how you react in front of the camera to be better prepared on your big wedding day!
